Orange County Botox Tips – Brow Lifts using Botox Cosmetic

Dr. Michael Lawton  welcomes you to  the first in a series of blog postings to help educate consumers about what can be achieved using Botox for facial rejuvenation.  This posting will explain how Botox can be used to achieve brow shaping or elevation.

Using Botox to achieve brow elevation requires an experienced Botox practitioner with intimate knowledge of facial anatomy. The normal position of the eyebrow is controlled by a series of muscles, each pulling in different directions, and by using Botox to selectively relax some of that muscle action can change and improve the shape of the brow.

Achieving elevation of only the outer brow is often requested by women, especially as they age.  This can be achieved on its own by using an average of about 5 units of Botox in the tail of each brow or as part of the treatment for the entire crow’s feet are, which normally requires an average of 20-30 units for optimal effect.

Elevating the entire brow, and not just the outer third, can be also be achieved on its own with an average of 5-10 units per brow. The Botox is placed mid-brow directly into the tail of a muscle called the corrugator muscle, and then Botox is placed in the outer tail of the brow as mentioned earlier.

Elevation of the entire brow can also be achieved, depending upon the anatomy, by the following two methods: treating the entire frown area between the brows, which normally requires an average of 20-30 units, and/or by treating the entire forehead area, which also helps reduce or eliminate horizontal forehead wrinkles and requires fewer Botox units, averaging from as little as 5-10 units to as many as 20 units.
